Well I have much to say about the Black Olive. This place is the best restaurant that I've been to in Lancaster County. I'm there at least three times a week. They treat you like family, the food is excellent and the portions are huge. And the prices are very reasonable. I would give them 10 stars if I could.
MIL's perpetual restaurant of choice -- and not just because a single entree will feed you for two meals or more. The staff is as welcoming as I've ever had anywhere, even on the busiest of days (we are consistently there for brunch over Thanksgiving wkend). I do recommend you choose before going in whether you're feeling like breakfast (all day) or lunch/dinner before you go in, because the menu is enormous. When I get breakfast, it's usually the freedom "pancakes", which come with fresh strawberries, banana, and blueberries, and whipped cream. I put it in quotes because you can sub french toast or crepes, and I absolutely love the french toast -- so light and eggy. I think they use a challah style bread. Hubs' breakfast go-to is the meat lovers omlette, which is pretty much a pile of meat tenuously held together with egg.
The Jersey Shore salad is probably the best salad I've had in my entire life. Substitute feta for blue cheese. It was fantastic!
I was on a bus trip and 36 of us stopped and had dinner at the Black Olive Diner. The food and service was exceptional. The menu is extensive. There are so many choices that everyone should be able to find something they like. I highly recommend this restaurant.

The food was mediocre but you get a decent amount of food. The staff was friendly and service was fast.
I still love Black Olive but was disappointed that they changed their breakfast home fries to hash browns. Menu says homefries but you get hash browns. Was disappointed!
This restaurant is such a delight. Yummy food, giant portions, wait staff that is very helpful and keeps drinks filled and helps clear away dishes. We are there two days in a row on our trip to Columbia and we'll be back. The place also looks clean and plenty of seating. Great food for kids.
